Video Summary
Dr. Amy Armstrong, Director of Cardiac Catheterization and Interventional Therapies at Nationwide Children's Hospital, discussed how to select the right patient for a heart valve procedure. She reviewed the screening reports for two types of valves, Harmony and Alterra. Using an ECG-gated CTA, she assessed the patient's anatomy to determine the best valve option. For Alterra, she examined the 3D reconstruction and looked for good fixation and sealing. The presence of residual leaflet tissue was also considered since it can affect valve function. For Harmony, she analyzed the perimeter plots and looked for appropriate oversizing. The landing zone and interference were also assessed. Dr. Armstrong highlighted the importance of capturing the leaflets and avoiding coronary compression. Based on the screening reports, she concluded that the patient was a candidate for both Alterra and Harmony, but ultimately chose to use the TPV25 Harmony valve. The procedure was successful without significant compression on the valve housing.
