Learning Objectives

At the end of this activity, participants should be able to:

Analyze current state and federal regulations regarding radiation protection in the cardiac cath lab and evaluate opportunities for advocacy and policy reform using the ALARA+ Coalition Toolkit.

List available radiation safety technologies and determine their benefits and barriers in diverse cath lab environments.

Apply evidence-based strategies from the “SCAI/ASE/HRS/SIR/SVS Expert Consensus Statement on Enhanced Radiation Protection” to enhance radiation and orthopedic safety protocols for interventional cardiology teams.

Assess the clinical and economic impact of operator injuries and radiation exposure and formulate institutional recommendations to improve safety outcomes and reduce workforce attrition.
