Acknowledgment of Commercial Support
This activity is supported by an unrestricted educational grant from Edwards Lifesciences.
Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to:

1. Evaluate the findings of the DETECT-AS study and discuss how ECHO alert systems could improve guideline adherence and patient outcomes in severe aortic stenosis (SAS).

2. Analyze the results of the EARLY TAVR trial, including its implications for treating patients classified as asymptomatic and the concept of Acute Valve Syndrome in SAS.

3. Discuss strategies for increasing engagement between heart teams and referrers to ensure timely intervention for all SAS patients, considering capacity challenges and potential changes to national coverage determinations (NCDs).

4. Review durability concerns and data on valve performance over time to guide decision-making in younger SAS patients.

5. Identify key practice modifications, including the role of exercise testing, earlier referrals, and heart team collaboration, to optimize outcomes for SAS patients.
