Tips and Tricks to Close Large ASD's: A Stepwise Narrated Approach With Fluoroscopic Demonstration
Overview
Large atrial septal defects (ASDs) remain technically challenging to close. This is because the device approaches the atrial septum at an angle not parallel to the atrial septum resulting in the device prolapsing into the right atrium. Numerous techniques have been described and documented in the literature. However, depiction of the technique in a manuscript while helpful, does not do justice to the nuances of the procedure when seen during an actual demonstration. The digital medium greatly improves user understanding of complex maneuver required to complete an interventional task.
