Acknowledgment of Commercial Support:
This activity is supported by an unrestricted educational grant from LivaNova. No in-kind support has been received.

Learning Objectives

After completing this activity, participants will be able to:

  1. List procedures that may indicate the use of an extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) device.\
  2. Discuss physician credentialing and privileging and review cardiac cath lab (CCL) staff requirements to prepare your CCL to use ECMO.
  3. Describe center types and hub center guidelines for patient care with ECMO.
  4. Discuss a patient case that required use of an ECMO device.

Challenging Scenarios in the Cath Lab

Agenda & Invited Faculty

This webinar will cover a series challenging cath lab scenarios. The faculty will review the evidence base that guides our decision-making and demonstrate through cases the nuances of applying data to real-life patients, interpreting advanced invasive diagnostic testing, and optimizing interventional procedures.

Moderator: Sohah Iqbal, MD, FSCAI
Q&A Moderator: Roxana Mehran, MD, MSCAI

•    INOCA: Should Microvascular Testing Be Routine?, Nathaniel Rosso Smilowitz, MD, FSCAI
•    Nonatherosclerotic ACS, Jennifer A. Tremmel, MD, FSCAI
•    Out-of-Hospital Arrest: To Cath or Not to Cath, Timothy D. Henry, MD, MSCAI
•    Complete Revascularization in AMI: One-Stop Fix or Wait a Few Days!, Natalia Pinilla, MD, MSc

Learning Objectives

After completing this webinar, participants should be able to:
  1. Define ischemia and non-obstructive coronary artery disease (INOCA) and the optimal setting for microvascular testing.
  2. Review the role of intravascular imaging and adjunctive non-invasive imaging in non-atherothrombotic coronary events.
  3. Recognize prognostic indicators of a good-survival potential for patients who present with out-of-hospital arrest.
  4. Define the role of the cath lab, including ECPR, neuroprotective hypothermia, and PCI in patients with out-of-hospital arrest.
  5. Compare the pros and cons of completing revascularization in one procedure vs prior to discharge.
