Learning Objectives

After completing this activity, participants will be able to:

Compare indications for extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) and extracorporeal cardiopulmonary resuscitation (ECPR).
List requirements for building an ECMO program in a cardiac catheterization laboratory or intensive care unit (ICU).
Discuss patient selection for ECMO.
Plan when to wean patients from ECMO, transition to another therapy, or withdraw care.
