Learning Objectives

After completing this activity, participants will be able to:

Discuss escalation of hemodynamic support in cardiogenic shock.
Describe the hemodynamics of left atrium-aorta (LA-AO) mechnaical circulatory support (MCS).
Outline the benefits of right-sided MCS.
Analyze the hemodynamics of bi-ventricular MCS.
Identify when escalation to veno-arterial extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (V-A ECMO) may be efficacious in cardiogenic shock.
